The Jim Bacon Memorial Scholarship provides three annual scholarships in memory of Jim Bacon who was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer that caused his untimely death in June 2004.
Available to students enrolling in honours or postgraduate coursework in fine arts, political science, or the care and treatment of cancer in Semester 1, 2021. The scholarships will be awarded to students whose study is in areas which has practical application or benefit for Tasmanians or who seek to promote issues which are important to Tasmanians. The selection panel will give preference to students for whom the financial assistance will make a difference in the successful completion of their studies. While the student's academic achievement is important and will be considered, the scholarships are not provided just for outstanding academic achievement.
To retain this award, recipients are required to achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester.
