South32’s Tasmanian Electro Metallurgical Company (TEMCO) is a ferroalloy smelter located 50 kilometres north of Launceston at Bell Bay on the coast of Tasmania, Australia. South32 is a globally diversified metals and mining company. It produces bauxite, alumina, aluminium energy and metallurgical coal, manganese, nickel, silver, lead and zinc in Australia, Southern Africa and South America. TEMCO produces high-carbon ferromanganese, silicomanganese and sinter and remains the only manganese ferroalloy plant in Australia. The TEMCO Community Foundation provided a significant gift to support several scholarships at the University of Tasmania.
Eligibility
Available to a student entering third or fourth year of an undergraduate engineering degree in Semester 1, 2023 who has decided to major in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
Work experience opportunities may be explored.
The selection process for this scholarship may also involve an interview.
On-going Eligibility
To retain this award, recipients are required to achieve a CREDIT result in all units each semester.
