Scholarships & Bursaries

This scholarship was established in 2015 by The Division of General Practice (Tasmania) - Southern Region, Inc. to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the University of Tasmania and to endow a scholarship in perpetuity to promote the discipline of general practice in Tasmania by encouraging students to participate in general practice related study and placements at the University of Tasmania.

Available to a student commencing Year 3, 4 or 5 of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery course in 2023 who wishes to undertake a significant placement in a general practice in addition to the required core GP placement. This placement must be in primary care and can be anywhere in the world. To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate: a) evidence of a genuine interest in general practice; b) an intention to practice as a general practitioner in Tasmania; c) how the placement will advance their understanding of general practice; and d) that they are not in receipt of a similar scholarship or grant for the same placement. Preference will be given to applicants seeking a placement that provides exposure to a wide variety of general practice activities.

To retain this award, recipients are required to achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester.
