The Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) is a centre of excellence for both research and education. IMAS’ research is innovative, relevant and globally distinctive. IMAS delivers first-class programs resulting in highly trained scientists and researchers serving the needs of academic institutions, industry, government and the community. These generous scholarships are offered by IMAS to encourage high achieving students relocating from interstate, or Tasmanian students who are required to move away from home, to study at IMAS and to assist with relocation expenses.
A number of scholarships are available.
Available to domestic students relocating from interstate, or Tasmanian students (i.e. students with a permanent residential address in Tasmania at the time of application), who are required to relocate to either Hobart or Launceston to study, and who are commencing their first year of study (Year1) in Semester 2 2020, for the first time, in the Bachelor of Marine and Antarctic Science (P3L). Students must have achieved an Australian Tertiary Admission Ranking (ATAR) of 85 - 89.9 or an IB 31 - 33 in 2019. The bursary will commence in the first semester of study.
To retain this award, recipients are required to achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester.
$3,000 for Tasmanian residents, $5,000 for interstate students to cover the cost of relocation.
There is no requirement to apply for this bursary as students will be automatically assessed during the University Admission process. However, you are invited to submit an application prior to the normal closing date of 30 June 2020 in order to apply for any other scholarship or bursary for which you may be eligible.
