Menzies Institute for Medical Research Honours Scholarship

Through the generosity and support of the following supporters, the Menzies Institute for Medical Research is proud to offer up to nine scholarships for students commencing an honours research program at Menzies in Semester 1, 2020: Diagnostic Services Pty Ltd, Doctors Tasmania, Family of Helene Matterson, Belinda Kendall-White, Heart Foundation Tasmania, and Moonah Navy Club.

 

Eligibility

A number of donor-supported scholarships are listed under this heading and are available to students commencing an honours research program at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research in Semester 1, 2020.

On-going Eligibility

Recipients are required to achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester.

Amount

All scholarships are valued at $5,000, with the exception of the Heart Foundation / Menzies Institute for Medical Research Honours Scholarship which is valued at $10,000.

Duration

One year

Closing Date

31 January 2020, for students commencing Honours in Semester 1, 2020.

Apply

Students applying for this award will be automatically considered for the following scholarships:

DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES HONOURS SCHOLARSHIP IN MEDICAL RESEARCH (preference will be given to students undertaking research that will inform our understanding of disease pathology and/or diagnosis).

DOCTORS TASMANIA HONOURS SCHOLARSHIP IN PRIMARY CARE RESEARCH (preference will be given to students undertaking research that will have an impact on primary health care).

4 x HEART FOUNDATION / MENZIES INSTITUTE FOR MEDICAL RESEARCH HONOURS SCHOLARSHIPS (preference will be given to students undertaking research that contributes to further understanding of cardio vascular health and diseases).

KENDALL-WHITE HONOURS SCHOLARSHIP IN MEDICAL RESEARCH (preference will be given to students undertaking research in the fields of public, environmental or rural health, including but not exclusively mental health, childhood health and genetic markers).

HELENE MATTERSON HONOURS SCHOLARSHIP IN MEDICAL RESEARCH (for any area of research undertaken by the Institute where preference will be given to domestic students).

MOONAH NAVY CLUB HONOURS SCHOLARSHIP IN MEDICAL RESEARCH (for any area of research undertaken by the Institute where preference will be given to students in need of financial assistance).

1. All potential Honours students should make contact with the Honours Coordinator in their discipline to discuss interests and options prior to submitting their application.

2. Applicants must forward a copy of the referee's report to two referees.
