The RFDS / Fairbrother First Year Nursing Scholarship has been established by the Royal Flying Doctor Service Tasmania in partnership with the Fairbrother Foundation. The scholarship will provide support to a first year nursing student from an outer regional or remote area of Tasmania, and will include a one week experience at an RFDS base, either on the mainland or in Tasmania.
Available to a student who is commencing first year studies in the Bachelor of Nursing (including Fast Track) in Semester 1, 2020. To be eligible, applicants must be residing in an outer regional or remote area of Tasmania (RA 3-5) as defined by the ASGS Remoteness Areas (2016) at the time of application. Selection will be based on both academic merit and financial need. The scholarship will also include a one week experience at an RFDS Base, either on the mainland or in Tasmania. The successful applicant will be required to provide a report of their placement to the RFDS and participate in mutually agreed public engagements as an ambassador of the RFDS in the year of tenure. Previous RFDS experience is not required.

To retain this award, recipients are required to achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester.
$5,000 ($2,500 of which will be paid two weeks before the start of the one week experience at an RFDS base)
