As part of Defence Science and Technology’s plan to increase diversity, promote defence science and education in the broader Australian community, and increase engagement within the university sector, the Department of Defence will provide up to three scholarships to the University of Tasmania to support talented female students enrolling in their second year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Specialisation) – Maritime Engineering degree at the Australian Maritime College.
Available to female students who are completing or have completed their first year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Specialisation) in one of the following streams: Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, and Marine & Offshore, including the Co-operative Education Program. To be eligible, applicants must: have achieved a GPA of 5.00 or above at the end of their first year; be enrolling full-time in the second year of their degree; and be an Australian citizen. Selection will be based on demonstration of academic merit, interest in a career in defence, leadership and involvement in the community. Preference may be given to students from an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background.
To retain this award, recipients are required to achieve a minimum CREDIT result in all units studied each semester.
