Funding for two scholarships is made available by the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS).
IMAS is a centre of excellence for both research and education. IMAS’ research is innovative, relevant and globally distinctive. IMAS delivers first-class programs resulting in highly trained scientists and researchers serving the needs of academic institutions, industry, government and the community.
Available to students who have completed the unit XAS101 Introduction to Temperate Marine Biology and are commencing the Bachelor of Marine and Antarctic Science (P3L) in Semester 1, 2020. Selection will be based on academic merit (High Distinction result required for XAS101) and successful admission into P3L in one of the following specialisations: Marine and Antarctic Governance (Hobart), Marine Biology (Hobart), Marine Resource Management (Launceston), Physical Oceanography (Hobart), Sustainable Aquaculture (Launceston).
To retain this award, recipients are required to achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester.
$5,000. Students who need to relocate to undertake the course will also receive an additional relocation allowance comprising of $3,000 (Tasmanian residents) or $5,000 (interstate students) to cover the cost of relocation.
