Scholarships & Bursaries

Established by the University of Tasmania as an opportunity for students to change their lives through education, these scholarships are made available through the generosity of alumni and friends providing gifts to the University of Tasmania's Southern Lights Scholarship Program.

Available to students commencing an undergraduate degree at the University of Tasmania in the first half of 2023. Selection will be based on the applicant’s demonstration of financial need. Preference may be given to commencing students who have to reside away from home in order to attend university or, because of family or other commitments, have to travel a significant distance to attend a university campus.

To retain this award, recipients are required to achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester.

$5,000 per year

Up to four years (does not include separate one-year Honours course)

Applicants who apply for Support to Study will be automatically assessed for this award.
