International Relocation Support Allowance (International Students Residing in Australia)

The University of Tasmania is offering a limited number of relocation support packages to assist international students currently living on the mainland of Australia with the costs of relocating to Tasmania to attend University. There are several different support packages from which eligible students are able to select.



Available to international students currently residing on the mainland of Australia to assist with the costs of relocating to Tasmania to commence full-time study in July 2021 in any undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree program.

On-going Eligibility

To retain the relocation allowance (cash payment) component, recipients are required to be enrolled full time (75% study load) in their first study period.


Applicants can select from three types of available support packages:

Option 1: $3,000 relocation/travel allowance (cash payment);

Option 2: $4,000 total: $2,000 relocation/travel allowance (cash payment) plus $2,000 university accommodation subsidy;

Option 3: $5,000 total: $1,000 relocation/travel allowance (cash payment) plus $4,000 university accommodation subsidy.

Please note that for Options 2 and 3, the university accommodation subsidy component will be paid towards the accommodation costs in a single room at one of the University's accommodation complexes in either Hobart or Launceston (see link below for options). It will be paid directly to Student Accommodation on behalf of the student. To be eligible for the accommodation subsidy, students must apply for University accommodation at and cover the application fee and bond (these costs are not covered by this support package).
