This scholarship is in memory of Tasmanians Margaret (née Douglas) and William Hamilton, who understood the opportunities created by access to higher education. Their daughters, who were privileged to grow up on the north-west coast and attend university, want this scholarship to help other Tasmanians have such access.
Available to a resident of North-West lutruwita/Tasmania commencing undergraduate studies at the University of Tasmania who can demonstrate the need for financial support. Preference will be given to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants.
To retain this award, recipients are required to achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester.
$5,000 per year for 3-year degree
$7,500 per year for accelerated 2-year degree
Up to 3 years for standard Bachelor degree
Up to 2 years for accelerated Bachelor degree
Applicants who apply for Support to Study will be automatically assessed for this award.
