D&MV McDonald Scholarship in Music

The D&MV McDonald Scholarship in Music was established at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music in 2008 by the late Dawson and Margaret McDonald to support students of the violin, viola or cello to study in the United Kingdom with a selected master musician.



Available to a student entering their final year of an undergraduate, honours or masters degree in 2021, to fund a residency in the UK for up to 10 weeks during January/February 2021. The selected student must be enrolled in a full-time course at the Conservatorium of Music studying one of the above instruments.


A package of support valued at up to $20,000 will be provided. This includes an airfare, accommodation and living allowance and tuition fees. Please note that the scholarship may not cover all costs for the successful applicant.


Eight to ten weeks residential course allowing the student to return for Semester 1, 2021.
